Nicholas has been causing all kinds of trouble over the last week. It's a good thing he's so cute!
Last Friday (the day after Thanksgiving), Alison was at work in the morning and David was home with the kids. David called Comcast for only 5 minutes to confirm a service appointment. The kids were upstairs, and David was in the kitchen. At the end of the phone call, David could hear Nicholas faintly crying. He went upstairs - and found that Nicholas had locked himself alone in the bathroom! David tried to push the pin in the little hole in the doorknob to release the lock, but it wasn't working. He then decided to just unscrew the door handle, but all that did was drop the handles on both sides of the door and leave the bolt in place. David and Sarah could now see Nicholas was in there with the lights off, and was trying to put the door handle back in place. Sarah shone a light through the hole for him, while David tried to get the bolt to come out. Finally, he decided to just break a little of the (particle board) door to get it out. Nicholas was freed after ~10 minutes of "Entering and Locking" - and was fine after a 30 second hug, following his parole.
Also on Friday, Nicholas committed "Disposal of Stolen Merchandise", but wasn't busted for it until Monday night. On Sunday night, David couldn't find the iPod after a half-hour of looking around the house. He (and Ali) checked all the usual places that Nicholas might have dropped his toys; David even searched in the top two bags of trash outside, as Nicholas is in the mode of throwing things away into the kitchen garbage. We went to bed thinking that either Nicholas had really hidden it somewhere crazy and it would eventually turn up, or that the Comcast guy had taken it when he was here "fixing" the phone/internet (see a thread here?). The next night, Alison and David had the same thought to check the bottom trash bag outside, even though David thought it was from before the iPod went missing. Alison had just opened the bag and started looking through it, when she found it in there! We threw out the cover, but otherwise the iPod still works great.
Last night, Nicholas was busted for "Public Urination". He'd finished with his bath, and was running to his room when Ali quickly turned on some warm water for Sarah's bath. That's all the time it took for Nico to start peeing on the carpet, a couple of his toys, his clothes, etc. Oy!
