On Saturday, we went shopping. We used to go shopping together until Sarah was old enough to not have to be in the shopping cart. David decided then it was much easier and less stressful (at least for him) if Alison did most of the shopping - especially groceries - during the weekday. Alison has afternoons off, and the kids are in day care, which definitely help! We first went to Target and then to Sports Authority - the main purchase there was a new softball scorebook. Then to PetSmart for some litter and then to Kohl's for clothes (mostly for David). His underwear supply was vastly dwindling, as Alison would throw out anything that was wearing out. After that, we were hungry and tired, and decided to delay our last stop until late that evening. We went to Lowe's for some garden supplies and mulch.
On Sunday, David spent most of the day working on the yard. The new plants in the backyard seemed to have survived the drought and the winter, but a few weeds were starting to come up, so we put down some tarps and covered with new mulch. David was a little sore, but was convinced he wouldn't have made it through the day if we hadn't started going to the gym. We also found time to go the Girl Scout Hike & Bike day. We fit Sarah's bike in the trunk of the Prius, and drove to the starting point. Sarah rode her bike, and we walked next to her pushing Nicholas in the stroller. At one point, Sarah wanted to get off and walk, so David jumped on her bike and rode off with Sarah laughing and chasing him.
By Sunday night, Nicholas was starting to feel warm, so we kept him home from day care and took him to the doc on Monday night. He didn't have many symptoms other than a fever and sounding just a little congested. But, sure enough, he has strep throat. He also stayed home on Tuesday, but went on Wednesday morning. You really can't tell he is or was sick, as he's just as happy as always (assuming he's fed).
